Dumb Mistakes when You Are Running Good
Thursday 17 December 2009 @ 10:05 am

All online poker players experience an occasional good luck “rush” when the cards hit you every time. You make improbably draws on the river, get dealt pocket Aces several time in one game, and in general go on a big winning streak.

When you are running good, you should be wary too. It is easy to get carried away thinking that you are unbeatable. In fact, a good run often leads to a bad losing streak because the winning player neglects to engage in sound strategy and instead picks up bad habits based on some lucky wins.

When your luck is running good, beware of falling into these bad habits:

* Entering into too many pots because you think can win with any hand.

* Challenging and calling strong players - these are the opponents you should be reluctant to engage.

* Attempting too many bluffs

* Engaging in fancy favorite plays, like check raising, repeatedly

* Spending all your profits instead of setting most aside to re-invest in your online poker career.

The first error is chasing after too many pots. Players who experience a good run over one or a series of poker games tend to loosen up their starting hand standards and chase after long shot pots which are not profitable. Stick to your regular starting hand rules, and only deviate from these selectively to convey an image of erratic play.
